The idea
Weird Wonderful Web starts with a simple observation: the modern internet is efficient, searchable, and increasingly predictable. That makes it useful, but it also leaves less room for the accidental discoveries that once made browsing feel like an adventure. This project brings some of that surprise back.
The experience
The interface offers one clear invitation: press the button and go somewhere unexpected. There is no complex navigation or long explanation to work through. Strong typography, a restrained visual system, and a single primary action keep attention on the moment of discovery.
Product thinking
The main design challenge was to make randomness feel intentional rather than careless. Every destination belongs in a curated directory of unusual independent websites, so the experience stays surprising while maintaining a point of view. The product also gives small, inventive corners of the web another way to be found.
What it demonstrates
Weird Wonderful Web is an experiment in serendipity as a product feature. It shows how a focused interaction, a memorable personality, and careful curation can create value without adding complexity. The directory can continue to grow while the core experience remains immediate and easy to understand.
