The idea
Generative image tools can feel technical or intimidating. AI Is a Joke approaches the same technology through humour, giving people a friendly reason to experiment without needing to understand the machinery behind it.
The experience
The product centres on a compact prompt-first flow. Visitors describe an absurd scene, generate a visual, and quickly see how their idea has been interpreted. Example prompts reduce the blank-page problem and show the range of results without overwhelming the interface.
Product and design decisions
The challenge was to balance freedom with enough structure to help people get started. Clear guidance, playful copy, strong contrast, and a limited number of choices keep the creation process understandable. The visual identity supports the joke, while the interface stays out of the way once somebody begins creating.
What it demonstrates
AI Is a Joke explores how personality can make an emerging technology more approachable. It is also a practical exercise in shaping an AI interaction around a specific emotional outcome: surprise, amusement, and the urge to share the result.
